No Chance Blues Boss Dashes Hammers Hopes

“No Chance” | Blues Boss Dashes Hammers Hopes

West Ham’s feeble top-four hopes were ended by Thomas Tuchel’s clinical Chelsea side in a 1-0 defeat at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Blues made it three Premier League wins on the bounce as they moved back up to third in the table with the Hammers remaining seventh.

With Arsenal and Tottenham both losing on Saturday, David Moyes would have been hoping to take advantage and close the gap on the top four. But the Hammers were outplayed by a superior Chelsea side who thoroughly deserved the three points.

Michail Antonio’s tame header aside, the hosts failed to register a shot on target as Chelsea dominated possession and created the better chances.

That dominance eventually told in the second half when Christian Pulisic fired home from Hakim Ziyech’s cross to secure the win for the visitors.

Moyes: “We were well below our best”

Speaking after the game, Moyes admitted that his team were not at their best against Chelsea.

“We were well below our best tonight,” he said. “We didn’t play well enough to win the game and Chelsea deserved to win.”

“We didn’t create enough chances and we didn’t defend well enough. We have to be better than that if we want to finish in the top four.

Tuchel: “I am very pleased”

Chelsea boss Tuchel was delighted with his team’s performance and praised their clinical edge in front of goal.

“I am very pleased,” he said. “We played a very good match. We were very clinical in front of goal and we deserved to win.

“We controlled the game from the first minute to the last. We created a lot of chances and we defended very well.

What next?

West Ham will be looking to bounce back from this defeat when they travel to Burnley on Sunday, March 6.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will be looking to continue their winning run when they host Newcastle United on Saturday, March 5.
