Nationals Win First Game, Lose Second

The Washington Nationals split their doubleheader with the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, winning the first game 13-7 and losing the second game 10-4.

In the first game, the Nationals scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back. Juan Soto hit a two-run homer and Josh Bell added a three-run shot. CJ Abrams doubled and scored two runs. Patrick Corbin started for the Nationals and allowed two runs on five hits in five innings.

In the second game, the Rockies scored three runs in the first inning and four more in the second inning to take an early lead. Jameson Taillon started for the Nationals and allowed seven runs on eight hits in four innings.

The Nationals are now 17-30 on the season and will host the New York Mets on Monday night.

Splitting in Texas

The Nationals also split their four-game series in Arlington, Texas against the Rangers, going 2-2.

The Nationals won the first game of the series 5-3, with Josiah Gray pitching 5.2 innings of one-run ball. The Rangers won the second game 6-5, with the Nationals blowing a 5-1 lead in the eighth inning.

The Nationals won the third game of the series 8-4, with MacKenzie Gore pitching 6.0 innings of two-run ball. The Rangers won the fourth and final game of the series 7-4.

The Nationals are now 19-32 on the season and will return home to face the New York Mets on Monday night.
