Montana State set for FCS Playoffs as No. 6 seed

Bobcats earn program's first playoff berth since 2019

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Montana State earned the sixth seed to the 2023 FCS Playoffs on Sunday and will host a first-round game against No. 11 seed Central Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 26.

The Bobcats earned the automatic bid to the playoffs by winning the Big Sky Conference championship on Nov. 19 with a 23-21 victory over Weber State. It was MSU's first Big Sky title since 2019 and its first FCS playoff berth since that season.

Montana State is 10-2 overall this season and 7-1 in Big Sky play. The Bobcats have won their last four games and are ranked No. 6 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 7 in the FCS STATS Poll.

Central Arkansas is 9-2 overall this season and 7-1 in Southland Conference play. The Bears won their last five games and are ranked No. 11 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the FCS STATS Poll.

The winner of the Montana State-Central Arkansas game will face either No. 3 seed North Dakota State or No. 14 seed Samford in the quarterfinals.
