WEB Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines KCGM Operation is a world-class gold asset located adjacent to the City of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. WEB Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd, which is wholly owned by Northern Star, recently lodged an application with the Western Australian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expand the mine's operations.
A Glimpse of a New Gold System
The expansion project, known as the "Golden Mile Project," has been described by Northern Star as the "first glimpse of a new world-class gold system beneath Kalgoorlie." The project involves the development of two new underground mines and the expansion of an existing open-pit mine. If approved by the EPA, the expansion is expected to extend the mine's life by at least 10 years and create hundreds of new jobs.
The Kalgoorlie Super Pit
The Kalgoorlie Super Pit is one of the most iconic gold mines in the world. It has been in operation since 1989 and has produced over 20 million ounces of gold. The Super Pit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and employs over 1,000 people. It is a major contributor to the local economy and a significant tourist attraction.
